Qahwah House - Lombard sits quietly on E Roosevelt Rd, offering a thoughtful retreat for those who crave something beyond the usual coffee stop. This coffee shop leans heavily into Middle Eastern flavors, with a menu that spotlights Adeni Chai, Turkish coffee, and a range of pastries that bring a cross-cultural warmth to the neighborhood.

Inside, the atmosphere is calm and inviting, with warm lighting and subtle aromatic hints of cardamom and honey floating in the air. The space tends to attract locals who appreciate a slower, more contemplative coffee experience—think casual catch-ups or solo breaks where the drink itself feels like a small ritual. While there aren’t extensive outdoor seating options, the interior encourages lingering with a book or conversation, particularly during quieter weekday mornings or early afternoons.

The Adeni Chai and the Turkish Coffee are standout offerings for those looking to try something off the beaten path from typical American coffee chains. Expect rich, spiced flavors that complement the bakery items well. Pastries like Khaliat Alnahl—a layered buttery roll with cream cheese and honey—bring a unique homey touch, best enjoyed freshly served rather than packed to go, as their texture shifts when cold.

Service here appears somewhat varied; some visits might find staff a little reserved, but customer care tends to focus on knowledgeable and sincere interactions when asked about menu details. The tea and coffee selections are solidly crafted, appealing to anyone curious about traditional Arabic and Yemeni flavors presented with care.

This spot suits those who want a quieter alternative to the usual fast-paced coffee shops—a place where the drink is both a comfort and a conversation starter. It works well for daytime stops, especially if you’re in the Lombard area and want to explore local flavors that don’t often appear in mainstream cafés. Pastries and cakes like pistachio milk cake and lemon cake round out the experience with something sweet and distinctive to nibble alongside your drink.

Adeni Chai at Qahwah House – Comfort in a Cup, Conversation in the Air If you're looking for more than just a cup of tea—something soulful, social, and spiced just right—Adeni Chai at Qahwah House is the experience you didn’t know you needed. From the moment you step inside, the ambiance wraps around you like a soft shawl. Warm lighting, low chatter, the scent of cardamom in the air—it’s not just a coffeehouse, it’s a cultural retreat. Whether you’re catching up with friends or enjoying a solo pause from a hectic day, the vibe here is calm, cozy, and real. Then there’s the Adeni Chai: Poured steaming into a delicate glass, this Yemeni classic is creamy, aromatic, and gently spiced. Notes of clove, cinnamon, and cardamom swirl with evaporated milk, making each sip feel like a hug. Not overly sweet, not overpowering—just perfectly balanced. You can taste tradition in every drop. Best shared in a pot with friends or savored slowly alone, it invites conversation. The kind that flows easily—light laughs, meaningful chats, ideas exchanged over warmth and steam. Pair it with their Khaliat Alnahl, a soft pull-apart honeycomb bread with a cream cheese center and sweet glaze, and you’ve got yourself a memorable chai moment.

The girl who took out order was so nice and understanding. She answered any questions we had. The place is decorated beautifully and everything is clean. The coffee itself is good, but nothing to drive very far for. If it’s close to you though go for it! The Khaliat Alnahl was good but if you order it to go it won’t be warmed up so be aware it will be dense and the cream cheese hard.

Great spot to get your tea fix. Love how original and unique the place is, and the menu. Tried the tea and was impressed! Packed with favor. I have to try to the coffee next, and I’ll def let you know know if the Yamani/Arabic coffee can compete with Italian coffee. Overall, I highly recommend this place.

We really enjoyed the coffee and sweet treat! We went two times and the first time staff wasn’t so friendly. The second time was about the same but there was a gentleman going around the restaurant offering water and service which was nice. I hope friendliness improves because the coffee and food is quite delicious

I always come here, and it’s so good! I ordered the Spanish latte and the Adeni chai; both were really good. I also ordered the Yemeni chocolate and the pistachio cake. Both were delicious. The service is speedy and the cafe has a cozy ambiance. Overall, all my visits end up great, and you should definitely check it out!!!

Everything was absolutely delicious. I tried the Honeycomb (Khaliat Al-Nahl) and the Pistachio Latte, and both were amazing. I also want to thank Tamara for her excellent service — she was very friendly and explained all the drink and dessert ingredients to me. Highly recommended!
